Vladyslava Shcherbyna - participant of the regional contest "Woman of Donetsk Region" in 2025, nomination "Heart in Armor"
Vlada was born and raised in Myrnohrad, a small mining town in Donetsk Oblast. From a young age, she had a dream in her heart to serve in the police, protect people and fight crime. After graduating from high school, Vlada entered Kharkiv University of Internal Affairs, and after graduating, she returned to her hometown to work where she was needed most.
Vlada is determined and stubborn, but also kind and fair. She is used to going all the way in everything she does. Her family has always valued honesty, hard work, and mutual respect, and it is these traits that she has carried through her life, and her work in the police force has given her endurance and strength of mind.
With the outbreak of full-scale war, Vlada's life changed completely. Myrnohrad, located almost on the front line, was devastated, and Vlada's home was destroyed. But even this loss did not break her, on the contrary, she found even more strength to work for people.
After moving to Kramatorsk, Vlada took a position as a juvenile prevention inspector at the Bakhmut District Police Department. It was then that she took on an extremely important mission - to save children and their families from hot spots.
Together with her colleagues, she traveled under fire to Toretsk, Kostyantynivka and other frontline settlements, where the fate of people was being decided every day. She found families, went into destroyed houses, convinced parents to leave with their children to safe places, and literally snatched people from the hands of death.
Vlada's biggest dream is to end the war. She dreams that the Ukrainian children illegally taken by Russia will be returned to Ukraine, that Ukrainian families will be reunited, that parents will return from captivity to their children, that innocent blood will never be shed in our country again. She wants every child in Ukraine to feel safe, to have love, warmth and confidence in the future.
