Kateryna Shapovalova - participant of the regional contest "Woman of Donetsk Region" in 2025, nomination "Creator of Changes and Opportunities"
Kateryna Shapovalova is a representative of the Velykonovosilkivska community. For more than 12 years, she has been developing the local library, turning it into a modern socio-cultural space.
Now Kateryna works in the village military administration of her community: she ensures daily communication with residents, promptly responds to requests, and coordinates the information of people scattered across the country by the war. For the frontline area, she is a bridge of trust between people and the authorities.
In 2024-2025, Kateryna focused on youth policy. She joined the Youth Council at the Donetsk Regional State Administration, participated in strategic sessions and forums, initiated and implemented environmental campaigns. At the same time, she joined the creation of a Youth Council in her community, a space where young people create local projects, strengthen cohesion, and prepare for post-war recovery.
Her approach is about the opportunities that arise where there is initiative and support. She brings together partners, attracts resources, and amplifies the voice of young people: "Young people have a voice and can be a strong pillar for the region and the country." The team Kateryna works with creates useful changes every day: from eco-projects and educational events to effective feedback mechanisms for residents.
