Oleksandr Shevchenko Held a Meeting with Community Leaders and Educators Regarding Preparations for the New Academic Year

Published 18 August 2026 year, 16:06

This was reported by Vadym Filashkin, Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration and Chief of the Regional Military Administration.

This year, 200 schools will operate in Donetsk Oblast, and 1,822 children will enter the 1st grade. Our priorities remain unchanged: safety, continuity, and quality of education.

Under war conditions, the educational system must be flexible and respond quickly to changes in the security situation. Since most children are studying remotely, special attention is required for cybersecurity and protecting the educational environment.

A special focus is on the "Schoolchild's Package," an initiative by the President of Ukraine. We must do everything necessary to ensure that support is received by all first-graders in the region who are eligible for it.

It is important that representatives of the Regional Youth Congress are also involved in resolving issues that directly concern children and youth. Their voices must be heard when making decisions that impact their education and future.

With very little time left before the start of the academic year, all necessary decisions must be finalized in a timely manner.
