The Oleksandrivka community passed the baton for the “Singing Ukraine” challenge to its partner communities

Published 19 August 2026 year, 11:07

The Oleksandrivka community has joined the “Singing Ukraine” challenge, which is being held to mark the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence as part of the national project “Side by Side: United Communities.”

The initiative brings together communities from different regions of Ukraine through Ukrainian song, helps preserve cultural traditions, and strengthens cooperation between partner communities.

The Oleksandrivka community showcased its cultural heritage through a performance by the “Kalyonka” folk amateur ensemble of the Novooleksandrivka branch of the Center for Cultural Services. The ensemble was founded in 2000 and has been promoting Ukrainian songs and traditions for over 25 years. Currently, it consists of six members, and its artistic director is Svitlana Voronova.

The ensemble’s repertoire includes Ukrainian folk and ritual songs, Christmas carols, and New Year’s songs, as well as contemporary Ukrainian compositions. “Kalyonka” participates in regional festivals and cultural events and has repeatedly won prizes in arts competitions. In 2021, the ensemble was awarded the honorary title of “People’s Ensemble.”

For the Oleksandrivka community, participating in the challenge was not only an opportunity to showcase the group’s creativity but also a chance to foster cultural dialogue with partner communities.

As part of the “Side by Side: United Communities” project, the Oleksandrivka community passed the challenge baton to the Yaremcha community in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast and the Pryiutivka community in Kirovohrad Oblast.

Such joint initiatives give communities the opportunity to learn more about one another, exchange cultural experiences, and maintain connections that are especially important during wartime.
