Donetsk region is preparing for the start of the 2025-2026 academic year, adapting to the realities of martial law. At an online meeting chaired by the Deputy Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Oleksandr Shevchenko, key issues regarding the organization of the educational process, the specifics of distance learning, and the updating of the regulatory framework were discussed.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Department of Education and Science, military and military-civil administrations. The main topic was the implementation of changes in the regulatory framework governing the functioning of general secondary education institutions, especially under martial law conditions. Significant attention was also paid to aspects of distance learning, which remains the primary format for many students in Donetsk region. The logistics of delivering textbooks for 2025 were also considered.

During the meeting, a management action algorithm for local self-government bodies was presented, aimed at effective analysis of the network of educational institutions and the organized start of the new academic year.

Oleksandr Shevchenko emphasized the need to form an effective network of general educational institutions, which will begin its work on September 1, 2025. He also highlighted the importance of considering the existing regulatory framework, available financial resources, and, most importantly, ensuring the interests of all participants in the educational process.

The acting director of the Department of Education and Science of the Regional State Administration, Yulia Burteva, stressed the importance of an organized start to the work of educational institutions and taking all possible measures to improve the quality of the educational process in the context of distance learning during the war.

The Department of Education and Science has planned interviews with the territorial communities of the region, aimed at providing the necessary methodological and consulting assistance.

We express our sincere gratitude to all educators in Donetsk region. In these extremely difficult conditions of martial law, against the backdrop of titanic efforts, they continue their hard but extraordinarily important work. Their dedication, professionalism, and exemplary level of adaptation to the constant challenges posed by the war deserve deep respect. It is thanks to the resilience and steadfastness of Donetsk educators that the right of children to education is ensured even when it seems impossible, which is an invaluable contribution to the future of Ukraine.
