The World Para Athletics Championships were held in New Delhi, the capital of India, bringing together more than 1,000 athletes from 107 countries.
Mykola Zhabnyak, a distinguished master of sports of Ukraine, representative of the Donetsk Regional Children's and Youth Sports School for Persons with Disabilities and the Bakhmut community, performed well at the competition as part of the Ukrainian national team.
In the F-37 discus throw, Zhabnyak's rivals were 12 athletes from 9 countries. From his first competitive attempts, the Donetsk region's para-athlete entered the top three. In his best fourth attempt, Mykola showed a result of 52.79 meters, which raised him to second place. However, in the final attempt, Japan's Yamato Shimbo overtook the Ukrainian, throwing the discus 54.50 meters and winning the silver medal. Mykola Zhabnyak ultimately won the bronze, while Mexico's Luis Carlos Lopez (56.59 meters) was the winner.
The athlete from Donetsk Oblast was trained by Viktor Lys, Honored Coach of Ukraine.
