The World Para Powerlifting Cup, held in Tbilisi, brought together 139 participants from 25 countries, where Ukraine was among the five strongest.
Donetsk region was represented by 3 athletes – of the Donetsk regional center of physical culture and sports for persons with disabilities “Invasport” and the Donetsk regional children and youth sports school for persons with disabilities, pupils of honored coach of Ukraine Igor Kotlyarov and coach Ivan Golovenko.
International master of sports of Ukraine Anton Kriukov from Mariupol won three gold medals: for the highest weight lifted and for the sum of three attempts in the 107 kg weight category, and also as a member of Ukrainian men’s team.
International master of sports of Ukraine Tetiana Bobrovska from Kramatorsk also won in the 61 kg category in the Best and Total programs and became a silver medalist in Ukrainian women’s team.
Master of sports of Ukraine Zlata Diachuk from Sloviansk won silver in the 86 kg category in the Total program and in the women’s team competition.
In total the Ukrainian national team won 15 awards: 8 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze.
It should be added that participation in the World Cup in Georgia was a prerequisite for obtaining a rating to qualify for the 2028 Paralympic Games and to achieve the required result to participate in the 2025 World Championships, which will be held in the Egyptian capital Cairo in October.
