The LEGO Foundation team in Kyiv held a coordination meeting-training dedicated to the implementation of the teacher qualification enhancement program for primary and basic school (grades 5-6) within the framework of the social-emotional learning program "Seeds".
The event was attended by a team of trainers from the Donetsk Regional Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education, joining the large movement for an emotionally healthy school – the implementation of the social-emotional learning program "Seeds" in the educational environment of Ukraine.
To date, over 40,000 educators in Ukraine have undergone training under the social-emotional learning program "Seeds". In the Donetsk region, basic training for teachers has taken place in recent months. In addition, active integration of SEL "Seeds" into the educational process has begun: curricula, class hours, extracurricular activities. Feedback has been collected from students and teachers – and it is impressive.
During the training, participants learned about the achievements of each region of Ukraine regarding the implementation of the Program, the peculiarities of its implementation in educational institutions, exchanged experiences, communicated amicably, and participated in activities – "seeds".
Educators in Donetsk region deeply understand the importance of social-emotional support for every child, teacher, and community. In the "Seeds" program, they saw more than just training – they recognized in it a language of hope, safety, and development.
Since the beginning of the implementation, about 1,200 educators from Donetsk region have already mastered the program – primary school teachers and basic level teachers (grades 5-6). Where "Seeds" appear, more friendship, acceptance, and respect are born. The culture of communication in general secondary education institutions is gradually transforming: from authoritarianism to partnership, from assessment to empathy, from reactivity to conscious action.
The social-emotional learning program "Seeds" will contribute to the formation of a safe, supportive, and conscious educational environment in which resilient, empathetic, and self-confident children grow. The team of trainers in Donetsk region is open to collaboration, ready to share experiences, provide support and assistance to all who strive to make the Ukrainian school even more humane, safe, and strong.
