Published 08 August 2026 year, 13:09

Dependent family members of a person missing under special circumstances are entitled to a survivor’s pension.

The following persons are entitled to the pension:

🔹 a husband (wife), father, or mother who has reached retirement age or has a disability;

🔹 children under the age of 18;

🔹 children enrolled in full-time education — until they complete their studies, but no longer than until they reach the age of 23;

🔹 children with disabilities, if the disability occurred before the age of 18;

🔹 other non-working family members who care for a child of the missing person until the child reaches the age of 8.

The pension amount is:

🔹 for one dependent family member — 50% of the missing person’s old-age pension;

🔹 for two or more dependent family members — 100% of the missing person’s old-age pension, divided equally among them.

How to apply?

You can apply:

✔️ at any service center of the Pension Fund of Ukraine;

✔️ through the Pension Fund’s electronic services web portal.

The application must be accompanied by identity documents, an extract from the Unified Register of Persons Missing Under Special Circumstances, documents confirming family relationships, and, where necessary, documents confirming education, guardianship, dependency, and other relevant circumstances.

Important:

✅ The pension is granted regardless of the length of the missing person’s insurance record.

✅ The right to the pension arises one month after the information is entered into the Unified Register of Persons Missing Under Special Circumstances.

✅ Documents confirming the missing person’s employment record may be taken into account when determining the pension amount.

The pension is paid throughout the entire period during which the person retains the status of missing under special circumstances and is terminated after information is entered into the relevant state registers confirming that the person’s whereabouts, place of burial, or location of remains has been established.
