A pension for special merits to Ukraine is granted to citizens of Ukraine for outstanding heroic acts or significant labor achievements. The procedure for appointment, payment amounts, and categories of eligible persons are defined by the Law of Ukraine “On Pensions for Special Merits to Ukraine” (hereinafter — the Law).
🔷 The following persons are entitled to such a pension:
🔸 Heroes of Ukraine, persons awarded the Order of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes, four or more state orders of Ukraine, as well as persons holding the honorary title “People’s”;
🔹 war veterans awarded for personal courage in defending the state;
🔸 distinguished athletes, cosmonauts, and members of flight test crews;
🔹 persons awarded state honors, honorary titles, or state prizes;
🔸 mothers who gave birth to and raised five or more children up to the age of six (or fathers, where applicable);
🔹 fighters for the independence of Ukraine and rehabilitated victims of political repression.
🔶 Appointment Procedure:
The pension is granted from the date of application or from the date the right to it arises, provided the application is submitted no later than 12 months afterward.
🔸 The application must be submitted to the territorial office of the Pension Fund at the place where the person receives their pension.
The date of application is considered the date the application is submitted or the postal dispatch date (provided all required documents are attached). If some documents are missing, they may be submitted within three months.
🔸 Documents confirming special merits must be attached to the application.
If the pension is granted due to the loss of a breadwinner, documents confirming family relations, the death of the breadwinner, children’s education, dependency status, and other supporting documents must also be provided.
Please note! A pension for special merits to Ukraine is established as a supplement to the main pension (old-age pension, disability pension, survivor’s pension, or long-service pension).
