President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has awarded two-year scholarships to athletes who won medals at the XII World Games, the most prestigious quadrennial competition in non-olympic sports, held in August 2025 in Chengdu, China.
The corresponding Decree No. 118/2026 was published on the official website of the head of state.
The list of scholarship recipients includes six athletes from Donetsk region who helped the Ukrainian team win 7 of 44 awards – three gold, two silver and two bronze.
The champions of the XII World Games will receive a monthly cash incentive in the amount of 12 subsistence minimums for able-bodied persons: two-time winner in sambo Vladyslav Rudniev and gold medalist in powerlifting Kostiantyn Musiienko.
A scholarship of 11 minimum subsistence levels for able-bodied persons has been awarded to powerlifting silver medalists Volodymyr Rysiev and Daria Rusanenko.
Two other powerlifters from Donetsk Oblast, bronze medalists at the XII World Games, Oleksii Bychkov and Anastasiia Derevianko, will receive a scholarship in the amount of 10 minimum subsistence levels for able-bodied persons.
The successes of Donetsk region representatives at the World Games and state support for their achievements are a vivid testament to the strength of Ukrainian sport and the endurance and high professionalism of athletes and coaches. These victories are born of persistent daily work and belief in one's own limitless possibilities. The example set by athletes convincingly proves that even in difficult conditions, it is possible to conquer the world's peaks, glorifying one's native land and inspiring a new generation to great achievements.
