Surviving winter amid attacks on critical infrastructure: the “Save this energy for yourself” campaign has begun

Published 25 February 2026 year, 09:17

Against the backdrop of winter and constant attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, an energy efficiency information campaign called “Save this energy for yourself” has been launched.

Its goal is to raise awareness of everyday solutions that can help Ukrainians better cope with periods of power outages and energy shortages. This does not involve major repairs, but rather affordable steps aimed at saving heat and using electricity wisely.

Recent sociological studies have shown that for 42% of Ukrainians, comfort at home is an important incentive for implementing energy efficiency measures*. In wartime, energy efficiency often means the ability to stay warm and maintain basic living conditions in the most difficult moments.

"Today, people's lives depend more than ever on access to energy, and Ukrainian infrastructure is under unprecedented massive attacks. Therefore, we want to remind you of effective and often overlooked solutions that allow you to get the most out of heat and electricity when they are available. A heat-reflective screen behind the radiator, double-glazed windows in winter mode, an aerator attachment on the tap to save hot water — even simple measures can significantly increase the level of comfort in the home," said Hanna Zamazeyeva, head of the State Agency for Energy Efficiency.

The campaign is being conducted in large cities, whose livelihoods are particularly dependent on a stable energy supply. The initiative is being implemented jointly by the Danish Energy Agency and the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine. The project is funded by the Danish Energy Agency. "The most important thing for Ukrainians right now is to get through the winter.

The Danish people are steadfast in their support for Ukraine, and this campaign, aimed at all Ukrainians, is an integral part of the broader assistance provided by our country. Although our experience cannot be directly compared to that of Ukraine, the proposed energy efficiency measures are a simple, universal, and effective way to get more out of the energy that is available," said Iben Møller Sondergaard, Deputy Director General of the Danish Energy Agency.
