On the initiative of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, a campaign to promote reading, "Give a Child Reading," is underway in the region on International Book Giving Day. The campaign aims to implement the Reading Development Strategy, ensure access for children and young people to high-quality Ukrainian-language literature, and foster a lasting motivation to read.

The Avdiivka and Selidovo territorial communities were the first to join the campaign, organizing events to distribute books to children.

In the Avdiivka community, the culture department organized the collection and distribution of books to children in a family-type orphanage. The children received interesting and informative literature that will help them develop reading habits, a love of reading, and meaningful family leisure activities. Parents and children expressed their sincere gratitude for the attention to their families and support for cultural development.

The Selidovo community also joined the campaign. Employees of the Selidovo Central Public Library donated Ukrainian-language books by domestic and international authors to four families in the community who currently live in Kamyanske. The donated books were a pleasant surprise for the families and, we hope, will serve as an additional incentive for family reading.

The regional campaign "Give a Child Reading" will continue throughout 2026. We invite all local communities in the region to join the initiative, promote reading among children and young people, and contribute to the formation of a reading, conscious, and culturally developed community.
