Police officers managed to evacuate several families from the frontline town. In addition, the crew evacuated four people who were walking from Kostiantynivka to escape Russian shelling.
Risking their lives, law enforcement officers rescued civilians who were waiting to be saved. At the time of the evacuation, enemy FPV drones were circling over the city. To ensure people could safely reach the evacuation vehicle, police fired on enemy targets.
Along the way, the crew picked up people who had been walking for four hours from Kostiantynivka. Among them was a woman with limited mobility, whom her relatives were carrying in a wheelchair. The people had stayed at home until the very end, but after another enemy strike, their house was completely destroyed, and they themselves miraculously survived.
“The city is gone, houses are burning. They’re bombing so hard that the houses are literally flying into the air. People are being buried in gardens because the cemetery is inaccessible. It’s impossible to stay there,” says an evacuated man.
Despite the constant threat of strikes, police were able to transport all the rescued people to a safe location. Volunteers will now help them reach the rear regions of Ukraine.
