The first online lesson, “Land of Heroes,” will take place on May 22, 2026, on the platform of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine’s Educational Center. Schoolchildren, students, educators, and anyone interested are invited to join the discussion. The conversation will focus on the history of Heroes’ Day, Ukraine’s highest state award, but above all—on the people who are defending the country today.
The first such lesson will feature Andriy Holovnya, a protagonist from the film “12. Land of Heroes” and one of the youngest Heroes of Ukraine. At the age of 19, he went to the front lines and set a record for destroying enemy equipment using the Javelin system.
During the session, Andriy Holovnya will share his combat experience, discuss the role of a Javelin operator, teamwork on the front lines, and personal responsibility toward the country. There will also be a separate discussion about friendship and support—specifically the role of animals in war, as the Hero will introduce participants to his pet, whom he is training for future service. The conversation will take place live. Participants will have the opportunity to ask the Hero questions, take part in a quiz, and receive gifts.
The feature-length documentary *12. Land of Heroes* serves as the foundation for a large-scale cross-media project. The film focuses on military personnel who have been awarded the highest state honor, the "Golden Star," and who continue to defend the country or train those who will defend it tomorrow.
