To help reintegrate Defenders of Ukraine into civilian life, the state offers a wide range of opportunities—from education and employment to starting one’s own business.

Employment service specialists assist at every stage: helping veterans choose a future profession and training options, prepare a résumé, find suitable vacancies, and get ready for job interviews, providing practical guidance throughout the process.

Servicemen and servicewomen who wish to engage in entrepreneurship or develop their own business after returning to civilian life, as well as persons with disabilities as a result of the war, may receive grant funding under the government program “eRobota” of up to UAH 1 million. In addition, the state is ready to support the spouses of Defenders with grants of up to UAH 500,000 to develop a family business.

The main requirement for implementing business ideas is the creation of jobs and payment of taxes to the budget.

Applications can be submitted via the Diia Portal at: https://t1p.de/ejw2u.

There is also an opportunity to receive training through an education voucher, not only for veterans but also for people who were wounded as a result of military aggression or held in captivity. The voucher can be used for training in IT technologies, construction, transport, education, healthcare, agriculture, social services, and more. More details about the program are available on the State Employment Service website: https://www.dcz.gov.ua/profnavch/voucher.

Employers who hire combat veterans from among registered unemployed persons who have been registered with an employment center for more than one month may receive compensation equal to 50% of the actual wage costs.

The maximum monthly compensation amount may not exceed UAH 8,000. Compensation is paid for every odd month from the date of employment. The total duration of payments is 6 months within a year. More details on the terms and procedure are available at: https://www.dcz.gov.ua/employer/choiceprofit/esv.

If an employer is ready to hire a combat veteran but the required qualifications are lacking, the employment service will organize training, retraining, or advanced training for the future employee.
