Today, an important meeting was held between representatives of the Toretsk City Territorial Community (Donetsk Oblast) and the Kaniv City Territorial Community (Cherkasy Oblast). This event was the first step towards active cooperation between the partner communities within the third wave of the national project "Side by Side: Cohesive Communities".
The meeting was attended by Alina Fomkina and Yuriy Yevsikov, deputy heads of the Toretsk City Military Administration, as well as representatives of the Kaniv City Council, who hospitably hosted the delegation from Donetsk Oblast.
The parties discussed a wide range of issues related to further cooperation, exchange of experience and implementation of joint initiatives. The key topics included
- support for residents of the Toretsk community under martial law;
- development of horizontal relations between local governments;
- social cohesion of residents through cultural, educational and youth initiatives;
- opportunities for joint participation in grant programs;
- organization of humanitarian support.
As a result of the meeting, it was agreed to prepare a joint action plan to be officially signed in August 2025. The document will include specific steps of cooperation between the communities in the coming months.
The participants of the meeting emphasized that the partnership between Kaniv and Toretsk is not just a formal commitment, but a manifestation of real solidarity, an example of Ukraine's unity in the most difficult times.
