The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, together with the State Tax Service, is conducting a communication campaign called "Taxes Protect." A series of infographics and videos describe various real-life situations that will teach you about:
- the most common tax situations for Ukrainian citizens and the corresponding taxes,
- the procedure for paying them and their distribution between the state and local budgets,
- where the state spends the taxes paid by citizens,
- the consequences of tax evasion.
Read about a real-life situation and find out what taxes Yulia, a self-employed manicurist, pays.
Yulia, 29, is a manicurist. She finds her clients through online ads and recommendations from friends. On average, Yulia earns about 25,000 UAH per month (75,000 UAH per quarter; 300,000 UAH per year). To legalize her income, she registered her activity as a Group 1 individual entrepreneur (IE).
Every year, Yulia submits her tax return through the "Dія" app and pays taxes.
If Yulia receives payment for her services on her personal bank card or in cash and does not declare it, it turns out that she does not pay taxes on her income. Then:
- the military does not have the necessary equipment,
- children cannot attend kindergarten,
- state social insurance funds are not replenished, and therefore, Yulia will not receive the appropriate payments when needed.
