Poetry of the Revolution of Dignity and living testimonies: Donetsk Regional Museum held a meeting to mark the anniversary of Maidan

Published 20 November 2025 year, 15:16

On the eve of Dignity and Freedom Day, the Donetsk Regional Museum of Local History held an online historical and literary meeting entitled ‘Maidan in Word and Heart.’ The event became a space for lively dialogue about the Revolution of Dignity, the power of civil resistance, and the role of poetry in preserving the memory of Ukrainians' struggle for freedom.

The event was attended by high school students from various communities in Donetsk Oblast, as well as a participant in the Euromaidan in Kyiv — Lieutenant Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, historian, journalist and writer Olena Mokrenchuk. Her personal experience and consistent position on defending the values of Maidan gave the meeting a special depth.

Participants listened to poems born during the revolutionary days, and after Ms. Mokrenchuk's speech, there was a question and answer session. The schoolchildren actively asked questions and shared their thoughts and impressions. The discussion turned the event into a dialogue between generations, in which young people listened attentively to a person who had taken to the main square of the country to defend Ukraine's right to a European future.

Such meetings play an important role in shaping civic awareness. They help young Ukrainians feel connected to their history, realise the price of freedom and their own responsibility for the future of the country.

Dignity and Freedom Day is not just a date, but a reminder of the choice that Ukrainians made then and confirm every day today.
