In memory: Donetsk region medics whose lives were taken by the war

Published 27 February 2026 year, 10:00

As part of the "Light of Memory" initiative, created by the public organization "Order of St. Panteleimon" with the support of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, every Friday at 10:00 a.m., we remember the medical workers who died as a result of the Russian Federation's armed aggression.

February 2023 was fatal for Natalia Chugunenko, a nurse at the Bakhmut dispensary department of the Kramatorsk Medical Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Addiction.

Natalia was born in the village of Semenivka, Yasinuvata district. She graduated from the Artemivsk Medical College with a degree in Medicine. She was married and lived with her husband for 36 years. They had three children and three grandchildren.

Her colleagues remember her as a cheerful, honest, kind, and hard-working person. She loved cleanliness and order and had "golden hands." She was skilled at handicrafts: knitting, embroidery, and sewing.

Her family remembers her as a person with a big heart who always tried to help with words and deeds. Despite her femininity and weakness, she was a person with a steel core. It seemed that she could not be confused in difficult circumstances. She always knew the way out, the solutions to all problems. The whole family and household depended on her. She lived for her family, children, and grandchildren. Her smile will remain in our memory forever.

On February 7, 2023, a rocket flew into Natalya Fedorivna's house and exploded above her head. The injuries she sustained were fatal. She was buried the same day in the yard of her own house. Under fire, neighbors helped her husband quickly dig a grave and bury his wife.

The bright memory of Natalia Chugunenko will forever remain in the hearts of all who loved and knew her!
