The regional campaign ‘Give a Child Reading,’ initiated by the Donetsk Regional State Administration, continues and unites communities in Donetsk Oblast around a common goal: supporting children and promoting reading as an important factor in intellectual and spiritual development.

The communities of Cherkasy and Myrne have actively joined the initiative.

The Cherkasy community has organised a collection of children's literature of various genres: fiction, fairy tales, educational and reference publications. The collected books were given to children who are being raised in three family-type orphanages and were relocated from the community to the Kyiv, Kharkiv and Vinnytsia regions. Employees of cultural institutions and representatives of socially responsible businesses joined the campaign, combining their efforts to support the younger generation and create opportunities for children to learn and develop regardless of their location.

The Myrne community also joined the ‘Give a Child Reading’ campaign. The head of the Myrne village military administration, Nadiya Serdyukova, met with children from the community and talked to them about their studies, hobbies and dreams. During the meeting, the children received books as gifts as a symbol of faith in their potential, support on the path to knowledge and confidence in their own abilities.

The regional campaign ‘Give a Child Reading’ unites the communities of Donetsk Oblast around a common goal - to raise a generation that will grow up with a love for Ukrainian books, language and culture. By giving children the opportunity to read, we invest in their intellectual development, shape national consciousness and strengthen the cultural space of the region.
