In memory: Donetsk region medics whose lives were taken by the war

Published 13 March 2026 year, 10:00

As part of the "Light of Memory" initiative, launched by the public organization "Order of St. Panteleimon" with the support of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, every Friday at 10:00 a.m. we remember the medical workers who died as a result of the Russian Federation's armed aggression.

The thirty-eighth spring of her life was the last for Marina Kaplun, a nurse in the pediatric infectious diseases department of the Selidovo Central City Hospital.

The medical professional was born in the village of Kurakhivka, where she tragically died at home from rocket fire along with her minor daughter.

Marina Kaplun graduated from the Makiivka Medical School with a degree in nursing and devoted almost 20 years to providing medical care to young patients. She was sensitive, cheerful, open, and hardworking. Her colleagues remember her as calm and responsible, always happy to perform all assigned tasks and help others. She loved her daughter immensely.

The news of the death of Marina and her child shook her team and other neighboring medical institutions. She is survived by her brother, aunt, and other relatives.

The bright memory of Marina Oleksiivna will forever remain in the hearts of her colleagues, relatives, friends, and the entire medical community of Donetsk Oblast.
