Representatives of the Donetsk Regional State Administration's Department for Veterans' Affairs took part in a round table discussion on psycho-emotional support and reintegration of veterans, organized by the European Union Advisory Mission in Ukraine.

The event was attended by representatives of law enforcement agencies and civil society organizations.

During the meeting, the participants of the round table discussed the following issues:

  • the experience of joint work between the canine service and psychologists, as well as European experience and best practices gained during training abroad;
  • the state of support for veterans, the main challenges, needs, and opportunities for involving animal therapy in rehabilitation processes;
  • international experience, existing psychological support projects, and prospects for expanding the use of animal therapy;
  • the experience of local police departments in supporting veterans, as well as cooperation with structural units on veteran policy issues in regional state administrations;
  • opportunities for involving civil society institutions, international foundations, and donor organizations in the rehabilitation and reintegration of veterans, as well as studying issues related to the system for assessing the daily functioning of veterans.

Artur Nasibyan, Head of the Regional State Administration's Department for Veterans' Policy, shared his experience of organizing events at the regional level to support the psychological and emotional well-being of war veterans and family members of deceased defenders of Ukraine.

Such meetings contribute to the establishment of interagency cooperation, the exchange of experience, and the implementation of best European and international practices in the field of psycho-emotional support and reintegration of war veterans and their family members.
