On September 29, Oleksandr Shevchenko, Deputy Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, took part in a roundtable discussion on the topic “Veterans in the Workplace: Reintegration, Employment, Cooperation, and Partnership.”
The event was chaired by Anatoliy Ostapenko, Chair of the Subcommittee on Social Protection of Veterans’ Rights of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Social Policy and Protection of Veterans’ Rights.
Representatives of government agencies, as well as experts in the field of social policy and the protection of veterans’ rights, also participated in the roundtable.
During the meeting, participants discussed pressing issues related to veterans’ return to professional life, opportunities for their employment and professional development, as well as the importance of effective cooperation between veterans, employers, government agencies, and other institutions.
A veteran’s return to civilian life is not the end of their military career, but the beginning of a new phase of professional and social fulfillment. It is important to create conditions under which veterans’ military experience and skills are not lost after discharge from service, but rather become the foundation for further professional development, entrepreneurial activity, management roles, and civic engagement.
Supporting veterans as they transition back to civilian life requires a joint effort by the government, employers, communities, civil society organizations, and the veterans themselves. It is precisely through partnership and systematic collaboration that we can create favorable conditions for the professional fulfillment of our defenders and their full integration into society.
