On June 11, an important regional human rights forum titled "Presentation of the Annual Report of the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights" took place in Dnipro. The event highlighted the urgent relevance of the issue of human rights protection in the context of full-scale aggression.

Participants were welcomed by the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, and the Deputy Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, Oleksandr Shevchenko, who emphasized the importance of ongoing dialogue and finding solutions to overcome the challenges posed by the war.

The event also included representatives from the Donetsk and Luhansk Regional State Administrations, international organizations, military structures, and public associations.

The central part of the forum was the presentation of the annual report of the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights in 2024, presented by Dmytro Mykhalov, the representative of the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. The report outlined key issues in the field of compliance with the rights and freedoms of citizens, especially those affected by the war.

As part of the event, a panel discussion on the protection of veterans' rights also took place. The Head of the Veterans Policy Department of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, Artur Nasibyan, shared valuable experience in implementing veterans' policy in the region.

In addition, participants discussed the modern challenges of reintegrating veterans after the war, sports rehabilitation for veterans, and the impact of "18-24" contracts on the rights of veterans and active military personnel.

Oleksandr Shevchenko commented: "The forum is an important platform for discussing the critical situation regarding human rights in our region. Together, we must find effective mechanisms to protect the rights of our citizens, especially vulnerable groups: children, the elderly, people with disabilities, internally displaced persons, families of prisoners of war, and the missing."

The holding of the forum was a step towards strengthening regional cooperation on human rights protection and developing effective mechanisms to respond to the modern challenges faced by the residents of Donetsk region in the context of war.
