A training on the topic “Safe Community — Effective Response to GBV in Crisis Situations” was held in Vinnytsia, organized by the NGO “Avalist” with the support of CARE International and Aktion Deutschland Hilft (Germany Relief Coalition). The event was implemented within the framework of the project “Gender-Sensitive Assistance in Life-Saving Protection for Frontline Communities in Eastern Ukraine”.
The training was attended by Olena Milianovska, Head of the Humanitarian Sector Department of the Kramatorsk District State Administration, Head of the Children’s Service of the Kramatorsk District State Administration, Viktoria Savon, as well as representatives of the territorial communities of the Kramatorsk district: Andriivska STG, Druzhkivska MTG, Kostyantynivska MTG, Mykolaivska MTG, Slovianska MTG, Svyatohirska MTG and Cherkasy STG.
The training aimed to increase the capacity of social workers to respond effectively to cases of gender-based violence (GBV) during times of crisis. The program of the event was built on the principles of gender equality, non-violent communication and close interaction in the community, which ensured its comprehensive and practical nature.
During the training, participants had the opportunity not only to deepen their knowledge of gender sensitivity, but also to master basic techniques of non-violent communication and methods of gender analysis in practice. Particular attention was paid to how to adapt social initiatives and events in communities to the needs of different social groups, as each of them faces unique challenges in times of crisis.
Participants noted that the training was useful and timely, as it allowed them to raise awareness and strengthen readiness to respond effectively to modern challenges - taking into account the interests and needs of all segments of the population.
