On March 24, 2026, representatives from the Donetsk region participated in a public expert event titled “Resolution 1325 ‘Women, Peace, and Security’ in Action: Regions Shape the Future.” The event was attended by representatives of government agencies, local self-government bodies, civil society, Resolution 1325 coalitions, and international partners.

The event was organized by the Office of the Government Commissioner for Gender Policy in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Policy, Family, and Unity of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Women’s Fund, with support from the Government of the United Kingdom.

During the event, participants reviewed the results of monitoring the implementation of regional action plans for UN Security Council Resolution 1325 “Women, Peace, and Security” for 2025, and discussed priorities for implementing the new National Action Plan through 2030.

Participants reviewed the results of relevant initiatives, modern approaches to communication and advocacy, as well as practical aspects of implementing the agenda at the regional and local levels.

Special attention was paid to regional specifics, security challenges, and resource constraints, as well as the need to strengthen cooperation between government agencies and the public, particularly with 1325 coalitions.

In this context, the importance of cooperation between government authorities and the public—particularly with 1325 coalitions—was emphasized to ensure more substantive consideration of regional needs, harmonization of approaches, and strengthening of the practical component of implementing relevant measures.

The development of a new National Action Plan to implement UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on “Women, Peace, and Security” and its adaptation to the regional level are crucial for taking into account regional specificities, existing challenges, and constraints in implementing measures, as well as for identifying the additional resources and sources of support needed for their practical implementation.
