As part of the national project "Side by Side: United Communities," a meeting was held between representatives of the sports communities of Pokrovsk and Uman.
On December 2, representatives of the Pokrovsk City Council's Department of Family, Youth, and Sports, the Uman City Council's Department of Physical Culture, Sports, and Youth Policy, the Pokrovsk and Uman Children's and Youth Sports Schools, and the Pokrovsk and Uman City Centers for Physical Health of the Population "Sports for All" gathered for an online meeting.
Cooperation between communities in the field of sports development began long before the memorandum was signed as part of the national project. The Uman community was one of the first to extend a helping hand to Pokrovsk coaches and athletes during a difficult time when they were forced to leave their homes and look for opportunities to continue their work.
It was at the sports base in Uman that the Pokrovsk Sports for All Center's football department began its activities a year ago and is now operating successfully.
The first item on the agenda was a discussion of the development of football. Oleg Yurkin, director of the Pokrovsk "Sport for All" Center and soccer coach, proposed holding a soccer tournament in Uman with the participation of both IDP children and local teams. The idea was unanimously and enthusiastically supported.
Igor Yurkin, director of the Pokrovsk Children's and Youth Sports School and rugby coach, shared his experience of preparing teams for the Side by Side: All-Ukrainian School Leagues competition. Representatives of the sports sector in Uman, in turn, expressed their willingness to organize friendly training meetings for Pokrovsk teams, emphasizing their desire for genuine partnership.
The part of the meeting devoted to working with veterans of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was particularly emotional. The Uman community shared its practices and results, which sparked a lively and sincere discussion. This area is also very important for the Pokrovsk Sports and Youth Center, so the experience of their colleagues from Uman was truly valuable.
