On March 31, a meeting was held with family members of fallen (deceased) defenders of Ukraine, families of servicemen who are being held captive or are missing in action, as well as individuals with war-related disabilities from the Selidivska City Territorial Community.
The event was attended by Oleksandr Shevchenko, Deputy Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration; representatives of the Regional State Administration’s Department of Veterans’ Policy; the Regional Employment Center; and the Council of Families of the Fallen under the Ministry of Veterans’ Affairs of Ukraine.
During the meeting, participants discussed social guarantees provided to veterans and their families at the national and regional levels. They also discussed the program of social support and protection for war veterans, military personnel—particularly those released from captivity—as well as family members of servicemen who are in captivity or missing in action, and the families of fallen Defenders of Ukraine. Special attention was given to the plan to honor the memory of fallen soldiers from the Selidiv community in 2026.
The participants also discussed ways to improve communication between government agencies and the families of military personnel, as well as mechanisms for providing social support.
Such meetings help families obtain important information and support, and help government agencies better understand the needs of veterans and their families in order to provide effective assistance.
