The Ukrainian Veteran Fund invites veterans and veteran women, military personnel, and their family members to a free training course “Python Fundamentals”. The training is launched as part of the global program “EmpowerU” by the IT company SoftServe.
The implementation of the initiative involves the Ukrainian Veteran Fund of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, the “VETERANKA” movement, the recruitment platform Lobby X, and Piraeus Bank.
The training will start on June 24 and will last for 8 weeks. During this time, participants will master the basics of programming in Python — one of the most popular programming languages in the world. After the course, 20 graduates with the best performance will receive grants of 10,000 UAH from Piraeus Bank for further IT education.
In the course program, participants will learn to work with basic Python constructs, version control systems Git, create web applications with Flask, master the basics of object-oriented programming, and much more. This will allow future specialists to lay a solid foundation for further development in web development and Data Science.
The course is created taking into account the many years of experience of SoftServe Academy and provides access to additional educational resources, a community of like-minded individuals, the development of soft skills, and support from mentors.
Lectures will be conducted online by experienced SoftServe mentors twice a week — on Tuesdays and Fridays from 18:00 to 20:00. They will cover theoretical foundations, as well as review practical assignments and assign homework. Classes will also be available in recorded format.

The number of places in the course is limited, so after registration, you will need to complete a small test task on the knowledge of basic programming concepts, as well as create an account on Discord. Participants who complete the course will receive certificates.
For reference. “Python Fundamentals” has become the fifth training course in Ukraine implemented within the global SoftServe program — “EmpowerU”. The initiative started in April 2023 and covers Ukraine, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Mexico, and Colombia. The main goal of “EmpowerU” is to provide equal opportunities for everyone who wants to learn and dreams of a career in IT.
