On September 17, a ceremony was held in Dnipro to mark Rescuer’s Day. The event was attended by representatives of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Donetsk Region, the regional prosecutor’s office, the Security Service of Ukraine in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, the National Police, and the State Bureau of Investigations.
Ihor Boiko, Deputy Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, addressed the rescuers of the Donetsk region. He highlighted the importance of the work carried out by these specialists, who, amid a full-scale war, continue to operate in areas under shelling, clear rubble, evacuate people, respond to emergencies, and clear minefields.
Pavlo Uhrovetskyi, Head of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office; Mykola Matviienko, Chief of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Donetsk region; and Yakiv Nemikin, Chief of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Donetsk region, also participated in the ceremony to offer congratulations and present awards.
During the event, the memory of Donetsk region rescuers who died while performing their duties was honored. Since 2014, 16 employees of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Donetsk region have died during the Anti-Terrorist Operation and the Joint Forces Operation. Since the start of the full-scale invasion resulting from Russian aggression, another 20 members of the personnel have died. Those present observed a moment of silence to remember those who did not return from their final mission.
On the occasion of their professional holiday, 61 employees of the State Emergency Service of Donetsk Oblast were honored with state and departmental awards, distinctions, and certificates for their courage, professionalism, conscientious performance of their duties, and dedication to service.
Among the awards were honors from the Donetsk Regional State Administration, the Security Service of Ukraine, the National Police, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, and other departmental awards.
Rescue workers in Donetsk Oblast continue to carry out their duties amid constant danger, helping people and ensuring the safety of the region’s population.
