During a working trip to relocated institutions, representatives of the departments and management of the social and humanitarian block of the Donetsk Regional State Administration visited the Support Center for Internally Displaced Persons of the Mariupol District "Heart of the East" in Kyiv.
The center operates under the coordination of the Mykilska Village Military Administration and is one of four such centers functioning in three cities of Ukraine — Kyiv, Dnipro, and Lviv. Overall, the network of Support Centers for IDPs in the Mariupol District "Heart of the East" serves over 2,200 residents of Donetsk region.
The center in Kyiv has become an important support hub for residents of Donetsk who have been forced to leave their homes. Currently, about 700 displaced persons receive assistance here, including 139 children. This year, over 1,400 food packages and nearly 100 units of non-food items have been distributed.
In addition to humanitarian aid, the center provides a wide range of services: legal, psychological, social, and medical assistance; cultural, educational, sports, and art therapy events, workshops, meetings, and training sessions are held.
A special role is played by the Resilience Center, which has been operating at the hub since May 2024. Its goal is to support the mental health of evacuated residents of Donetsk, including veterans, families of the deceased, and internally displaced persons. During its operation, the Resilience Center in Kyiv has assisted over 800 individuals, of which 525 were in the current year.
An important part of the center is the "Veteran Space," where consultations with psychologists, doctors, and services of the Administrative Services Center can be obtained, as well as VR therapy, work and play areas, a library, and a gym. There is also a museum room, with exhibits created with the participation of the visitors themselves.
A total of 5 resilience centers have been created, 3 of which provide evacuated residents of the Donetsk region with comprehensive social services to build resilience outside the region - in the cities of Kyiv and Lviv.
During the visit, representatives of the regional administration also congratulated the participants of a sports event that took place with the involvement of residents of the Mariupol District.
Such initiatives have become places of strength, support, and hope for thousands of displaced persons from Donetsk. They not only help people overcome the consequences of war but also create conditions for new opportunities, recovery, and development in a safe environment.
