The European Chess Championship for athletes with musculoskeletal disorders was held in Ostrava, Czech Republic, where 42 participants from seven countries competed in three types of games: rapid, blitz, and classical.
Two chess players from Kramatorsk represented Donetsk Oblast as part of the Ukrainian national team.
Master of Sports candidate Hryhorii Diak won silver in rapid chess, scoring 7 points in 9 rounds and losing by only 0.5 points to his compatriot Artem Andrienko. Grigory took fifth place in blitz and fourth place in classical chess, scoring 6.5 points in each.
Candidate Master Viktor Neschotny won bronze in blitz, scoring 6.5 points. With the same result in rapid chess after nine rounds, he finished fourth, and in classical chess, he took eleventh place with five points.
The Ukrainian team won a total of five medals (two gold, two silver, and one bronze) at the competition, taking first place in the team standings.
