As part of the Side by Side: United Communities project, a special event took place that brought together people from different parts of Ukraine—an online meeting called "Uniting Communities with the Words of the Kobzar."
Students, teachers, and representatives of the Siverska, Dubrynytsko-Maloberezhanska, and Onokivska communities gathered in virtual space to experience together the power of the Great Kobzar's words.
Despite the distances that separate the communities, all participants were united by a common goal — to honor the figure of Taras Shevchenko and feel how his words continue to live on in the present day.
Participants learned many interesting facts about the poet's life by watching an informative presentation. However, the real moment of unity was the inter-community video challenge "Let's Read Shevchenko Together." The videos featured lines from the Kobzar's works performed by teachers and students from different communities. And although the voices came from different corners of Ukraine, they merged into a single powerful sound of the Ukrainian word.
The online exhibition "Shevchenko's Work Through the Eyes of Children" and the educational quiz "Do You Know Shevchenko?" were particularly popular, giving participants many positive emotions and new knowledge.
The final chord of the meeting was the online dialogue "Shevchenko and the Present." The students reflected on why Shevchenko is called a prophet, which of his words are particularly relevant today, and whether poetry can change the world.
