Igor Boiko, Deputy Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, took part in a meeting of the Physical Culture and Sports Department. The main topics of the meeting were the performance of sports schools over the past year and the development of mass sports amid the war.
Despite the challenges posed by the war and the relocation of facilities, the sports system in the Donetsk region continues to function. During the meeting, the activities of children’s and youth sports schools (CYSS) and Olympic reserve schools (OYSS) were analyzed.
“Even under conditions of relocation and remote work, our coaches and instructors are holding the fort. This is the foundation. We must clearly understand how many children are enrolled in training and how to maintain the quality of training for future champions,” emphasized Ihor Boiko.
Special attention was given to the “Sport for All” network of centers. The deputy head of the region stressed that physical activity today is critically important not only for the body but also for the mental well-being of community residents. Sports are becoming one of the most effective means of rehabilitation and adaptation for the population during difficult times.
In addition to general reports, the meeting participants discussed the following issues:
- Infrastructure constraints: The most pressing issue is the development of swimming due to limited access to swimming pools.
- Strategy adjustment: Based on the results of 2025, priority sports will be identified to receive enhanced support.
The board meeting allowed not only to review last year’s achievements but also to adjust the action plan for the current season to ensure the continuity of the training process for athletes in the Donetsk region.
