Athletes from Donetsk Oblast, competing as part of the National Team of Ukraine at the European Para Swimming Championships in Kocaeli, Turkey, secured a total of 34 medals: 14 gold, 10 silver, and 10 bronze.
This was reported by Vadym Filashkin, Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration and Chief of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration.
Key Achievements & Highlights:
Artem Oliinyk: Won the highest number of awards with 9 medals (6 gold), and set a new European record in the 50m butterfly.
Veronika Korzhova: Earned 8 medals (5 gold), setting both European and World records in the 100m backstroke.
Award Winners: Medals were also won by Andrii Trusov, Ihor Nimchenko, Danylo Chufarov, Yaroslav Semenenko, Oleksandr Komarov, and Vasyl Kraynyk.
Institutional & Community Background:
The para-swimmers are recipients of Donetsk Regional State Administration stipends, trainees of the Regional Children and Youth Sports School for Persons with Disabilities, and representatives of the "Invasport" Regional Center.
Тhe athletes represent the Sloviansk, Soledar, and Mariupol hromadas.
They were prepared for the competition by Honored Coaches of Ukraine Andrii, Svitlana, and Danylo Kaznacheiev, alongside coach Yaryna Matlo.
