On August 24, 2026, another online dialogue for young people titled “The Formation of Ukrainian Statehood” took place. It was organized by the Department of Family, Youth, and Public Events for National-Patriotic Education of the Regional State Administration in collaboration with the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance.
During the event, guest speaker Iryna Reva provided a detailed overview of the key milestones in the formation of our national identity, emphasizing the centuries-long path toward Ukraine’s independence. Participants learned about the continuity of state-building traditions, beginning with ancient times, the era of the princes, and the Cossack era, and ending with the liberation struggles of the 20th century and the restoration of Ukraine’s state independence on August 24, 1991, as well as the Ukrainian people’s current resistance to Russian military aggression.
Particular emphasis was placed on the fact that modern independence is the result of a centuries-long struggle by many generations of Ukrainians for their right to live in a free and sovereign state.
The event helped deepen young people’s knowledge of national history, foster an active civic stance, and strengthen the spirit of national patriotism among the youth of the Donetsk region.
