Despite being forced to relocate and being far from their homeland, the residents of the Bakhmut Psychoneurological Boarding School celebrated December 3—International Day of Persons with Disabilities—with a rich program full of warmth, creativity, and hope.
International Day of Persons with Disabilities is not just a date on the calendar. It is an annual reminder to humanity of its duty to show care and compassion to the most vulnerable members of society.
Caring for people with disabilities, pensioners, and lonely citizens is a matter of national importance. The celebration of this day was a wonderful opportunity to once again express the nation's respect for these courageous people, who have had a difficult life journey. In this regard, everything possible is being done to ensure that those under our care feel as socially protected as possible, even in places of relocation.
The residents of the Bakhmut Psychoneurological Boarding School, who are temporarily staying in the Poltava region, feel strong support and sincere warmth from those around them.
On December 3, a rich and varied program was organized for them:
- Communication hour: together with the methodologist of the Veprytska Library, an event was held on the topic "No one should be left behind, a world without barriers." The purpose of the event was to promote tolerance, compassion, and overcoming common stereotypes.
- Information presentation: participants watched a video presentation entitled "Open your heart to goodness" and familiarized themselves with information materials on the rights and services available to persons with disabilities.
- Creative master class: participants took part in making New Year and Christmas wreaths, demonstrating their talents.
- exhibition of works: an exhibition of the creative achievements of the residents of the facility was organized under the title "Works of the strong in spirit, creative and unconquered - THEY found themselves in life";
- intellectual tournaments: chess and checkers competitions "Games of the Unconquered" were held.
The day ended with a warm tea party with sweets and fruit. During this heartfelt communication entitled "We are similar - we are different," the residents had the opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings. A special moment was the recitation of her own poems by a resident of the facility, in particular, the poem "Don't forget about people.
In the hearts of everyone involved in the lives of these courageous people, there is an unshakeable belief that peace will soon come. The staff of the Bakhmut Psychoneurological Boarding School sincerely hopes that soon their charges will be able to return to their homes, where calm, harmony, and peaceful skies will reign.
Everyone in their own place is bringing this long-awaited victory closer.
