Artists from the Donetsk Academic Regional Drama Theatre (Mariupol) at the «Pearl of Donetsk Region» Children’s and Youth Centre treated children to an unforgettable encounter with the arts by staging the premiere of the musical action show «The Power of the Wild Field» — a production about strength, courage, freedom and the indomitable Ukrainian spirit.
This production has become an effective tool for fostering national and patriotic education. Through a dynamic, adventurous journey across the ages, the play reveals to young people, in an accessible and captivating way, the depth of Ukrainian traditions, the strength of spirit and the distinctiveness of our people.
The main idea behind the production is to show that courage, a love of liberty and the pursuit of freedom are an integral part of the Ukrainian spiritual code. This theatrical reinterpretation of the historical legacy of the Wild Field helps young audiences see the connection between generations and understand that the modern-day heroes defending Ukraine today are continuing the glorious tradition of the Ukrainian Cossacks.
This sense of continuity instils in children a sense of pride in their country, respect for its history and a sense of responsibility for its future.
The children’s genuine enthusiasm, their empathy for the heroes and their joyful smiles were the best proof that Ukrainian culture has the power to unite, inspire and sustain even in the most difficult of times.
