During the Carpathian Summit, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held separate bilateral meetings with President of Romania Nicușor Dan, President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, and Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk.
The Head of State thanked the leaders for the active dialogue, meaningful cooperation, and support for the Carpathian Initiative.
“Today, we are expanding it with another dimension – a regional one, focused on our shared Carpathians. This has significant potential not only for our economies, but also for security and stronger ties between our people,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy said following his meeting with the President of Romania.
The leaders discussed the projects where the countries can pick up the pace and help each other. These include the SAFE instrument, joint drone production, infrastructure and humanitarian issues, and security in the Black Sea region.
The Head of State thanked Romania for its consistent assistance to Ukraine.
During his meeting with Aleksandar Vučić, Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that the Carpathian Initiative should be further developed so that every country in the region can find the economic and security opportunities it needs.
The leaders discussed the agreements reached during the President of Ukraine’s visit to Serbia in August this year.
Particular attention was paid to Ukraine’s and Serbia’s European integration and the situation with Russian strikes. The presidents will continue their bilateral dialogue.
During his meeting with Donald Tusk, the Head of State emphasized that Ukraine and Poland are strong neighbors, friends, and partners, and that the two countries share the same common enemy.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Tusk discussed the importance of maintaining unity and working together to stop the war.
“I thank Poland for its new aid package. This is an important step in supporting us, and we appreciate it,” the Head of State stressed.
The President of Ukraine and the Prime Minister of Poland discussed further developing the Carpathian Initiative and the opportunities this format can offer to all countries of the Carpathian macro-region.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine is ready to share its experience with Poland and is open to mutually beneficial cooperation.
