The delegation of the Toretsk community joined the celebration of Kaniv City Day and signed a memorandum of cooperation within the framework of the "Side by Side: Cohesive Communities" project.

The document lays the foundation for the development of a long-term partnership between the communities and provides for

  • exchange of experience in local government, culture, and education;
  • organization of joint cultural events, exhibitions and creative initiatives;
  • support for internally displaced persons, including residents of Toretsk who now live in Kaniv;
  • Implementation of social programs to help victims of the war;
  • cooperation of educational institutions and involvement of young people in volunteer and community projects;
  • submitting joint applications to national and international grant competitions for the development of both communities.

Kaniv Mayor Ihor Renkas noted that cooperation within the "Side by Side: Cohesive Communities" project will become a real basis for development, mutual support, and strengthening of unity between communities even in times of war.

The delegation of the Toretsk community also joined the celebrations on the occasion of the Day of Kaniv. Deputy Heads of the Toretsk City Military Administration Yuriy Yevsikov and Alina Fomkina, together with representatives of the community's cultural sphere, took part in the celebration.

As part of the program "Side by Side: Cohesive Communities", a photo exhibition "Destroyed but Unconquered: Toretsk Community", prepared by the Toretsk MBA, was presented. It reflects the consequences of the war's destruction and at the same time symbolizes the resilience and strength of spirit of Toretsk residents. A separate location of the exhibition became a meeting place for IDPs from the Toretsk community, who now live in Kaniv, with a delegation from their hometown.

Joint steps within the "Side by Side: Cohesive Communities" project show that even in times of war, Ukrainian communities are able to unite for development, mutual support, and future revival.
