Published 19 March 2026 year, 17:02

As part of the national project “Side by Side: United Communities,” an online meeting was held between representatives of the Toretsk and Ruzhyn communities to exchange experiences regarding the implementation of veteran policies at the local level.

Representatives from the Department of Social Protection and the Center for Social Services, who work directly with veterans and their families, participated in the event on behalf of the Toretsk community. The Ruzhyn community was represented by specialists from the Department of Health and Social Protection and the “Center for Social Services” of the Ruzhyn Town Council.

During the meeting, both communities shared their practical experience in supporting veterans. Representatives of the Toretsk community presented their work on implementing local programs, providing material assistance, social support, and helping veterans adapt to civilian life, and also outlined the challenges they face in their work.

The Ruzhyn community also presented its own approaches to organizing work with veterans and their families. Participants shared their experiences in providing social services, coordinating between institutions, implementing an individualized approach for each family, as well as practices for support in the areas of medical care and social integration. Special attention was given to issues of interagency cooperation and improving the accessibility of services for veterans in the community.

The event participants discussed effective tools for establishing a comprehensive and effective support system for veterans, exchanged ideas, and identified promising areas for future cooperation.

Such meetings help strengthen partnerships between communities, develop high-quality veteran policies, and implement new approaches to working with veterans.
