When war takes away a person’s job, it can feel as though life must start over from scratch. This is especially challenging when you have decades of work experience behind you and the labor market is constantly changing.
However, motivation and a willingness to embrace change can open new opportunities. This is exactly what the story of Viktoriia Omelchenko from Kramatorsk is about.
Viktoriia Volodymyrivna is 53 years old and has extensive life and professional experience. Over the years, she has worked as a cashier, merchandise specialist, expert, non-food goods salesperson, and sales floor cashier. In addition, she holds a degree in education, having graduated from the Sloviansk State Pedagogical Institute, and spent part of her career working in the education sector.
Because of the war, Viktoriia’s employer was forced to cease operations, leaving her unemployed. She turned to the Employment Service for support. Specialists helped her update her résumé, improve her self-presentation skills, and identify vacancies that best matched her qualifications and experience.
“When a person has worked in one place for a long time, searching for a new job can seem like a difficult challenge. That is why support and professional guidance are so important. The specialists helped me look to the future with greater confidence and believe in my own abilities,” Viktoriia shares.
The results came quickly. She successfully passed a job interview and was hired as a sales consultant at an EVA retail store in Kramatorsk.
Today, Viktoriia Volodymyrivna is back at work, communicating with customers, applying her many years of experience, and proving through her own story that a professional career does not end after the age of 50. On the contrary, life experience, responsibility, and a strong work ethic remain significant advantages in the eyes of employers.
