In the context of relocation far from their homes, Ukrainian culture and language remain the solid foundation that unites hearts. In early May, residents of the Bakhmut Psychoneurological Boarding School, which is currently operating in the Poltava region, took part in a series of events under the slogan “Strengthening the Status of the State Language.”

The main goal of these gatherings is to demonstrate that the Ukrainian language is not merely an official symbol, but a living, vibrant tool for communication and an expression of our cultural identity.

For the residents of the facility, a book exhibition titled “Ukraine: Everything That Makes Us Ukrainian” was opened in the boarding school’s library. It was not just an exhibition, but a true journey through the ages: the residents eagerly explored literature about forgotten rituals, majestic architectural landmarks, and the deep-rooted traditions of our people.

To reinforce their knowledge in an engaging way, a board game called “Ukraine Quiz” was held. In a game format, the residents competed on their knowledge of their native language and facts about their homeland, which sparked genuine delight and many positive emotions.

The atmosphere of the Evening of Ukrainian Poetry was particularly warm. Accompanied by the lyrical melodies of outstanding Ukrainian composers, poems were recited that resonated in every heart. Alongside the works of famous classics, “living” poetry was also heard—the residents’ own poems.

One of the most moving moments was the tour of the Velykobudyshchanska Community Library. The hospitable people of Poltava warmly welcomed the visitors from Donetsk. As part of the event “I Embroidered a Talisman Shirt for My Son. My Native Ukraine Became the Pattern,” the participants not only got acquainted with new works of Ukrainian literature but also immersed themselves in the magic of embroidered towels and shirts, which have long been considered talismans of our nation.

Such events prove that no matter where we are, our home is wherever the Ukrainian language is spoken and our traditions are honored. We firmly believe that long-awaited peace will soon come to Ukraine, and our students will be able to return to their native Donbas.

In the meantime, everyone continues to hold the cultural front in their own way, bringing victory closer.

Everything will be Ukraine!
