Today marks International School Meals Day. It is a reminder that balanced meals at school are not a minor detail but an important part of children’s health, energy, and learning.
Due to the war, most schools in Donetsk region have been destroyed or damaged, so education is mostly conducted remotely. However, those institutions that managed to resume in-person learning after relocation continue to preserve an important element — high-quality school meals.
This is part of a nationwide reform supported by the First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska. Its goal is to ensure that schoolchildren receive healthy, safe, and modern meals.
The video shows a break in the cafeteria of the relocated Pokrovsk Educational Complex No. 1, which is now operating in Dnipro. During these breaks, students come to have lunch and restore their energy before classes.
Despite all the challenges, hot meals are prepared here every day, and the staff strive to preserve for children the feeling of normal school life.
Caring for children means caring for the future of Ukraine.
