This was announced by Vadym Filashkin, Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration and Chief of the Regional Military Administration.
Today, the founding meeting of the War Veterans Council under the Donetsk Regional State Administration took place in Dnipro. The event marked an important step toward establishing an effective system for representing and protecting the rights of Ukraine's defenders, their families, and the families of fallen heroes.
The establishment of the War Veterans Council is part of the continuation of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy's "Heroes Policy" initiative, which aims to create effective mechanisms for supporting veterans and service members.
Together with representatives of the veteran community, participants elected the Council's leadership. The Council will now operate as a permanent advisory and consultative body under the Donetsk Regional State Administration.
During the meeting, participants honored the memory of all those who gave their lives for Ukraine's independence and discussed the Council's key priorities, ranging from coordinating veterans' initiatives to strengthening cooperation with government institutions and civil society.
Following an open vote, the leadership of the War Veterans Council under the Donetsk Regional State Administration was elected:
Chairman: Artem Shchus
Deputy Chairmen: Vladyslav Dutchak and Yurii Koval
Secretary: Volodymyr Hershun
"I congratulate the newly elected Council and thank all participants for their active involvement, responsibility, and constructive work.
Today's event is not merely a formality—it is a practical mechanism that will enable veterans of the Donetsk region to have their voices heard, influence decision-making, and help shape policies that reflect their needs," Vadym Filashkin emphasized.
