Today, the Organizing Committee for the preparation and conduct of the annual sports and wellness event "Honoring Warriors, Running for the Heroes of Ukraine" held a meeting with the participation of Deputy Head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration Ihor Boiko.
During the meeting, participants discussed the organization and implementation of the 2026 edition of the annual patriotic run. The main presentation was delivered by Volodymyr Strashko, Director of the Regional Center for Physical Culture and Health Promotion, who briefed the committee on the event's preparations, organizational matters, and coordination among all participating services.
Summing up the discussion, Ihor Boiko emphasized:
"This event is not about speed or victory. It is about remembrance, gratitude, and resilience. We take to the starting line on behalf of those who can no longer run alongside us. For our Heroes. For Freedom. Together, we honor the fallen, support their families, preserve the living memory of their sacrifice, and strengthen a powerful patriotic movement of unity.
The annual run ''Honoring Warriors, Running for the Heroes of Ukraine'' has become an important patriotic tradition dedicated to commemorating Ukrainian service members who lost their lives during the Russian-Ukrainian war. This day reminds each of us of the true price of Ukraine's freedom and independence. It is our duty to preserve the historical truth about this war, pass on the memory of our defenders' heroism to future generations, and do everything possible to ensure that the names of our Heroes live on forever."
Following the meeting, the Organizing Committee outlined the next steps to ensure the successful organization of the event, which traditionally brings together the people of Donetsk region in honoring the memory of Ukraine's fallen defenders.
