On 26 August 2026, a joint online meeting was held between the Health Department of the Donetsk Regional State Administration and the State Institution ‘Donetsk Regional Centre for Public Health of the Ministry of Health’ regarding the coverage of the population of Donetsk Oblast with preventive vaccinations and the quality of medical records on vaccinations entered into the electronic health system (ESOH) based on an analysis of data as at 31 July 2026.
The meeting was attended by heads and specialists from health management bodies, primary and secondary healthcare facilities, as well as representatives of the branches of the State Institution ‘Donetsk Regional Centre for Public Health of the Ministry of Health’.
During the meeting, the results of an analysis of the information and analytical dashboard of the immunisation programme of the State Institution ‘Centre for Public Health of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine’ were reviewed. According to the analysis, the main problems in the field of immunoprophylaxis were identified as population migration to safer regions of the country, delayed commencement of vaccination, low rates of booster vaccination among children aged 6 and 16 and the adult population, a build-up of children with missed doses, and possible shortcomings in the entry of information into the Electronic Health Record System (ESOZ).
Particular attention was paid to the vaccination coverage rates for children against diphtheria, whooping cough and tetanus. As at 31 July 2026, coverage with the first dose in the relevant age group stood at 52.6 per cent, with the second dose at 47.1 per cent, and with the third dose at 43.5 per cent. The rate of incomplete primary vaccination against diphtheria, whooping cough and tetanus in the region stood at 33.2 per cent.
Meeting participants also discussed the need to ensure the timely entry of medical records regarding preventive vaccinations into the Electronic Health Record System (ESOZ), to verify the correct entry of components of combined vaccines, to identify children who have missed doses, and to organise catch-up vaccinations.
Emphasis was placed on the need for systematic monitoring of immunisation indicators, analysing the reasons for insufficient coverage among certain age groups, issuing timely invitations to the public for vaccination, and improving the quality of electronic record-keeping for vaccinations administered.
The joint efforts of the regional state administration’s health department, healthcare facilities and the State Institution ‘Donetsk Regional Centre for Public Health of the Ministry of Health’ are aimed at increasing the level of vaccination coverage among the population and ensuring the timely protection of Donetsk region residents against infectious diseases that can be prevented through vaccination.
