On February 26, 2026, with the participation of the Donetsk Regional State Administration's Department of Health and the Donetsk Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, a joint online working meeting was held meeting on the results of preventive vaccination coverage in 2025 and the main tasks for immunoprophylaxis in 2026.
During the event, the current epidemic situation and the risks of spreading infectious diseases that can be prevented by vaccination were discussed. It was emphasized that in conditions of martial law, constant population displacement, and limited access to medical services in some communities, maintaining adequate immunization levels remains one of the key areas for preserving public health.
A separate section of the meeting was devoted to the issue of vaccination safety and surveillance of adverse events following immunization (AEFI). Participants discussed the need for strict adherence to response algorithms, timely reporting, and proper communication with the population, which is an important prerequisite for trust in vaccinations and the stable operation of the immunization system.
The importance of cross-sectoral cooperation between the State Institution “DONETSK OCCPCH MOH” and healthcare institutions, educational institutions, and communities was also noted in order to build support for vaccination, counter misinformation, and reduce fears that influence parents' decisions about vaccinations.
Based on the results of the discussion, priorities for 2026 were identified: increasing coverage and timeliness of vaccinations in young children, organizing catch-up vaccinations, systematic monitoring of indicators at the primary health care level, and improving the capacity of health workers through training on immunoprophylaxis, including response to NIPIs.
The meeting resulted in the agreement of joint steps aimed at improving the quality and safety of immunization, preventing outbreaks of infectious diseases that can be prevented through immunization, and ensuring the epidemic well-being of the population of Donetsk region in 2026.
