On May 19, an online meeting was held under the chairmanship of Oleksandr Shevchenko, Deputy Head of the Regional State Administration, with the participation of representatives from the Regional State Administration’s Department of Veterans’ Policy, specialists in support services for veterans and demobilized personnel, and officials responsible for veterans’ policy in the region’s local communities.

During the meeting, participants discussed issues of cooperation and the organization of support for war veterans, military personnel, demobilized individuals, and their family members, as well as the families of fallen (deceased) Defenders of Ukraine in communities where positions for veterans’ support specialists have not yet been established.

The meeting participants focused primarily on establishing effective cooperation between veterans’ support specialists and officials from the region’s local communities to ensure timely assistance, counseling, and support for veterans and their family members.

Currently, five positions for specialists in veteran support and support for demobilized persons have been established in the region within the staffing tables of municipal institutions such as the “Center for Social Services,” the “Territorial Center for Social Services,” and municipal non-profit healthcare enterprises of local communities, funded by the state budget.

As of today, five specialists have been hired in the Slovyansk, Druzhkivka, and Oleksandrivka territorial communities. Over the course of the year, it is planned to introduce four additional positions in the Mykolaiv, Novodonetsk, Lyman, and Cherkasy communities—one position in each.

In 2026, a subsidy of 3.4 million UAH is allocated in the Donetsk region to cover the salaries of specialists providing support to war veterans and demobilized individuals.
